چکیده

The Bragg resonance (BR) of a reflection coefficient resulting from the propagation monochronic waves over periodically submerged breakwater was studied using non-hydrostatic numerical model SWASH (Simulating WAves till SHore). occurs when incident wavelength is approximately twice structural length periodic according to Bragg’s law and conditions. This study aimed investigate dynamics at water depths 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 m as number their wavelengths changed. Specifically, this focused on point occurrence ratio two incoming (2S/L). Regular were propagated breakwaters, with increasing 1 2 0.2 intervals. results showed that resonances rapidly increase in value depth decreases, but do not shift breakwaters increases. However, shifts leftward 2S/L increases, slight shallower depths. More wave energy reflected increases compared differences values are associated changes breakwater. Additionally, influenced by both length. causes Resulted deviate Expected resonance, which could be reason why does mainly occur 2S/L=1, stated law.

Numerical Study on Tsunami Hazard Mitigation Using a Submerged Breakwater

Most coastal structures have been built in surf zones to protect coastal areas. In general, the transformation of waves in the surf zone is quite complicated and numerous hazards to coastal communities may be associated with such phenomena. Therefore, the behavior of waves in the surf zone should be carefully analyzed and predicted. Furthermore, an accurate analysis of deformed waves around coa...

Numerical Simulation of Solitary Wave Induced Flow Motion around a Permeable Submerged Breakwater

This paper presents a numerical model for the simulation of solitary wave transformation around a permeable submerged breakwater. The wave-structure interaction is obtained by solving the Volume-Averaged Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes governing equations VARANS and volume of fluid VOF theory. This model is applied to understand the effects of porosity, equivalent mean diameter of porous media,...

Flow Field Analysis of Submerged Horizontal Plate Type Breakwater

A submerged horizontal plate type breakwater is pointed out as an efficient wave protection device for cage culture in marine fishery. In order to reveal the wave elimination principle of this type breakwater, boundary element method is utilized to investigate this problem. The flow field and the trajectory of water particles are studied carefully. The flow field analysis shows that: the intera...

The Feasibility and Effectiveness of using Bragg Breakwaters in the Shore- line Wave Climate for East Taiwan Ocean Energy

The purpose of this paper is to test the feasibility and affectivity of Bragg breakwaters on increasing wave energy by using wave conditions. The Bragg reflection phenomena will depend on the wavelength of surface waves and the spacing of the submerged breakwater. The spacing of the submerged breakwater is the most important parameter for designing a series of submerged breakwaters. In this pap...

Comparison between a non-hydrostatic numerical model and analytic theory for the two-layer exchange flows

Recently, Armi and Riemenschneider (2008) improved the two-layer hydraulic theory and applied it to the co-located sill and contraction. The main goal in this study is to compare the new theory with a non-hydrostatic numerical model. To this end, the numerical model is employed for two different geometries. The first geometry is steep topography with co-located contraction and the second geomet...
